An SSD uses flash memory with no moving parts, making it 10–50× faster than a traditional HDD. For your OS and daily apps, an NVMe SSD is the obvious pick. HDDs still make sense for cheap bulk storage of rarely-accessed files (video library, backups). A smart combo: 1TB NVMe for the system + 4TB HDD for archives.
